Bitcoin Purity 1.0.0 is now officially released.
Bitcoin Purity is a full-node implementation focused on keeping Bitcoin a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. This first stable release establishes an independent development path while preserving Bitcoin’s existing addresses, transactions, signatures, and SHA256d proof of work.
Compared with Bitcoin Knots 29.4.1, Bitcoin Purity takes a different approach to the post-BIP110 network:
- SHA256d proof of work is retained, rather than moving to BLAKE2b.
- BIP110 / Reduced Data rules are made permanent.
- The legacy difficulty adjustment is replaced by a 24-hour ASERT difficulty adjustment, allowing difficulty to respond more smoothly to changes in network hashrate.
- Deep reorganisations of more than six blocks are parked for operator review by default, providing additional protection during periods of unstable hashrate.
- Bitcoin’s existing address formats, transaction format, signature rules, and block size/weight limits remain unchanged.
- No transaction-level replay protection or separate transaction format is introduced.
Bitcoin Purity 1.0.0 also introduces its own versioning and network identity. Purity nodes use bit 25 of Bitcoin’s P2P service flags to identify support for the Purity chain, helping compatible nodes discover and connect to one another.
Bitcoin Purity 1.0.0 establishes a conservative path forward: permanent Reduced Data rules, responsive difficulty adjustment, and stronger reorganisation protection, while keeping Bitcoin’s proof of work and transaction model intact.
